Copra surges on higher demand, pepper eases

Copra and ginger prices surged at the spices market here today on higher demand from stockist and millers amidst good retail offtake.

Meanwhile, black pepper prices eased on reduced demand from retailers.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai shot-up by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 6,000 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 5,900.

Copra edible Mumbai climbed by Rs 75 per quintal to Rs 5,575 from last weekend's level of Rs 5,500.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode prices gained by Rs 75 per quintal each to Rs 4,725 and Rs 4,625 from Monday's closing level of Rs 4,650 and Rs 4,550, respectively.
 

Ginger bleached and unbleached moved up by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 145 and Rs 155 from Saturday's closing level of Rs 140 and Rs 150.

However, black pepper edged down by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 360/420 as against Rs 365/420 previously.
