Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said police officers need to understand the reason behind a crime and for that should study human psychology.
We are using advanced technologies, forensic facilities and drones. But, police personnel must also upgrade their abilities to be ahead of criminals who are using high-tech technology to commit crimes, she said.
Speaking during the third day of Collectors-SP Conference here, the chief minister claimed that better policing has improved law-and-order situation in the state and crime rate has gone down.
Raje discussed various issues, including illegal arms, liquor, disposal of arms license applications, better contact with police of other states and prevention of communal tension.
Expressing concern over increasing junk due to storing of seized vehicles, liquor and other items in godowns, she directed the Superintendents of Police to expedite the disposal of these goods.
Appreciating efforts of Alwar district police in disposing of about 9,000 vehicles, seized goods in dowry cases and 90 per cent of the illegal liquor, Raje suggested all SPs to adopt the model.
About the 'Abhay Command Centre' set up at Jaipur which reduced police's response time significantly, the chief minister said such centres, when established at divisional headquarters will be a step forward in curbing crimes.
Earlier, state home minister Gulabchand Kataria informed that the forensic lab in the state has been upgraded and emphasised on the use of DNA, finger print and other features of forensic science in investigating crimes.
