After the recent arrest of five persons who allegedly procured licenses of scores of firearms through fake documents, the police have begun a hunt for the gang leader who turned out to be a local resident, a senior official said here today.

"We are searching for the gang leader Pradeep Sangwan. It is suspected that his gang has got hundreds of arm licenses from Nagaland on the basis of fake identity cards of people," Additional Superintendent of Police Amrendra Singh told PTI.

He said the police came to know about Sangwan's alleged involvement during the investigation of the accused.

"Sangwan, a resident of Lasudiya area of Indore, had duped some people while posing as a police officer," Singh said, adding that they suspect that he received Rs 4-5 lakh in the illegal trade.

He said a police team was also sent to Nagaland for the detailed investigation into this matter.
