A local court has directed police to register an FIR against city municipality president Laxmi Giri and eight others, including two government officials, in connection with alleged forgery of her caste and domicile certificates for contesting election in 2014.
The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Neetukant Verma yesterday asked police to register FIR against Giri, a BJP leader, and others under various IPC sections, including section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), in connection with alleged forgery.
The court directed the police to file charge sheet by September 20.

The two government officials against whom FIR is sought are the then Sub-Divisional Magistrate S N Brahma and the then Tehsildar Rakesh Shukla -- both from Tikamgarh.
A petition against Giri and others was moved by local Congress leader Laxman Raikwar.
The petitioner alleged that Giri had contested the election for the post of municipality president, which is reserved for woman under OBC category, on forged domicile and caste certificates.
Raikwar claimed Giri originally hailed from Chitrakoot district in Uttar Pradesh and is not a local.
