Coriander, chilli fall on subdued demand

Coriander and red chilli prices drifted by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely due to easing demand from retailers and stockists amidst adequate stocks.

Pick up in arrivals from growing regions and weakening trend in futures market also put pressure on the coriander and chilli prices.

Coriander and red chilli prices drifted by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 11,800-16,800 and Rs 7,900-15,600 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down coriander and chilli prices.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 155-190, black pepper (per kg) 600-750, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,780-1,810 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 2,000-2,100.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 800-860, cardamom (colour robin) 800-820, cardamom bold 810-830, cardamom extra (bold) 940-990 and cloves 780-850.
