Coriander, jeera up as demand picks

Coriander and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of a pick-up in demand from local parties and overseas enquiries.

Coriander prices went up by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 11,400-16,400 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 16,600-17,200 and Rs 20,600-21,100 per quintal.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists amid rising export demand, mainly pushed up coriander and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 155-190, black pepper (per kg) 570-750, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,730-1,765 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,950-2,050.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 790-850, cardamom (colour robin) 790-810, cardamom bold 800-820, cardamom extra (bold) 930-980 and cloves 720-840.
