Coriander, turmeric rise on restricted supply

Coriander and turmeric prices rose up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on fall in supplies from producing belts against increased buying by retailers and stockists.

Besides, firming trend in futures market supported the uptrend.

Coriander and turmeric prices rose up to Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 12,200-17,200 and Rs 8,200-13,200 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying by retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up coriander and turmeric prices at the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations:

Ajwain (per kg) 155-200, black pepper (per kg) 730-925, betel-nut (kg) 270-320, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,630-1,680 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,750-1,870.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 770-820, cardamom (colour robin) 670-690, cardamom bold 690-720, cardamom extra (bold) 890-920 and cloves 710-810.
