Press Trust of India Coimbatore
A cormorant, which was lying

near a temple in the city was today rescued by Environment Conservation Group and handed over to rehabilitation centre.

Seeing the strange bird struggling to move, some passersby alerted the Forest Department office, which in turn informed Mohammed Saleem, president of the group, who arrived at the spot on Raja Street.

The cormorant was unable to fly, due to the fall from its nest, Saleem said in a release and subsequently brought it to the Forest Animal Rehabilitation Centre.

The bird will be monitored and set free when fit to fly.

The group has a couple of days ago rescued 13 rose ringed parakeets from nearby Tirupur and handed over to the forest department, he said.
