Wayanad MP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Tuesday expressed his gratitude to the doctors and other health workers of the district "for their hard work" and said he would work with them to overcome the coronavirus challenge.
In a letter uploaded in his Twitter handle Wayanad MP, Gandhi urged everyone to "adopt appropriate hygiene and sanitation practices to prevent transmission" of the virus.
He also said that he had to postpone his scheduled visit to the constituency but had spoken to the District Collector Adeela Abdulla on the measures taken to contain the virus.
"I strongly appeal to you to self-isolate and seek medical assistance, if you exhibit symptoms of Covid-19. I would also advise you to avoid all non-essential travel till the situation improves," Gandhi said in his letter.
"While these public safety measures may inconvenience you, they are necessary, given the alarming rise in transmissions in countries that failed to respond on time," he said.
He also wished those under observation in Wayanad, a "speedy recovery".
