In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the 2020 edition of Frieze New York, scheduled to be held on May7-10, now stands cancelled.
In light of global health concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) and following advice and restrictions from local, national, international and health authorities, we regret to announce the cancellation of Frieze New York 2020, organisers of the annual art fair announced in a statement.
We have also postponed Frieze Sculpture at Rockefeller Center, which will now open in the summer of 2020. We will update everyone with further information in the coming weeks. We look forward to Frieze New York 2021, they added.
Thanking all the participating galleries, curators, partners, staff, and the New York community for their "unwavering support", they added that those who purchased tickets for the four-day event could reach out to the fair management for refunds.
Frieze, New York is the third major global art event to bear the brunt of the virus outbreak after Hong Kong Art Basel, which was called off in March this year, followed by the postponement of Art Dubai.
