Various regulators, including RBI and Sebi, have access to the Corporate Affairs Ministry's portal that hosts all regulatory filings related to the companies law, the government said today.

The Ministry's MCA 21 portal provides online facility for all compliance-related filings under the Companies Act.

"Access to the corporate database in the portal available to various regulators including Central Board of Excise and Customs, the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Securities and Exchange Board of India, Reserve Bank of India and Financial Intelligence Unit etc," Corporate Affairs Minister Jaitley said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

He was responding to a query on whether the government is sharing data pertaining to corporate sector on mutual basis with various regulators and enforcement agencies.

In recent times, various departments and regulators are looking to strengthen their information-sharing mechanism as part of larger efforts to curb frauds and malpractices.

"The portal (MCA 21) conducts rule-based validation for certain filings, other filings are examined by the regulatory officials for approval. All filings are made available as an electronic database for public viewing," Jaitley said.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs implements the Companies Act.
