The city Corporation Mayor P Rajkumar today presented his vaiva voce for PhD on the thesis of "Emergence of J Jayalalithaa as Mass Political Leader" here.
Though many have pursued and received Doctorates, this was claimed to be for the first time in India, that a Mayor has carried out research on the emerge of a mass leader, an official release said.
The research was carried out under the guidance of C Pichandy, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, PSG College of Arts and Science, where the program was organised, the release said.
After replying to the queries of various professors and press persons, the authorities approved the vaiva and decided to confer Doctorate on Rajkumar.
District Collector Archana Patnaik, City Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan, Corporation Commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan were among those participated in the event.
