Corporator arrested for harbouring externed criminal

An independent corporator of the Nashik Municipal corporation was today arrested by the police for giving shelter to an externed criminal.

Pawan Chandrakant Pawar, the corporator, is accused of giving shelter to Santosh Ramesh Kushare, a history-sheeter.

Police also arrested Kushare from Pawar's office in Jail Road area, said P R Dhokane, in-charge of Nashik Road police station.

After getting a tip-off that Kushare had been seen in the Jail Road area, he was arrested and a chopper was seized from him.

Kushare allegedly told the police that he worked at the corporator's office where his job was to attest the documents.
