'Cost accountants to play huge role in GST era'

Cost accountants and other professionals will have a huge role to play in the Goods and Service Tax (GST) era, CBEC Chairman Najib Shah said today.

He was speaking at an award function organised by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) here.

The chief of CBEC said professionals like cost accountants would have a huge role to play in the era of GST.

He also presented awards for excellence in cost management to cost accountants in various categories.

ICAI President P V Bhattad and other members were also present.

Eros International Media partners with UAE's Phars Film * Film and entertainment firm Eros International Media today announced its association with UAE's largest film distribution and exhibition network Phars Film.

The partnership will entail the two companies jointly co-producing Malayalam films along with exploration of theatrical rights between the two entities.

Cigna TTK Health Insurance launches 'Get ProActiv India' prog * Cigna TTK Health Insurance, a joint venture between US-based global health service leader, Cigna Corporation and TTK Group, today launched 'Get ProActiv India' as part of its ProActiv Living Programme.

The programme is designed to encourage and reward people to be physically active as measured activity can go a long way in improving one's health, a statement issued here said.
Infosys launches Skava Commerce platform

* IT services major Infosys today unveiled a mobile-first, modular e-commerce platform to help clients leverage new technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance shopping experiences.

The platform has been developed by Skava, a Silicon Valley-based e-commerce startup. Infosys acquired it for USD 120 million in June 2015.

"By taking a platform-centric approach, leveraging Skava Commerce, retail clients can develop and quickly roll out new offerings on an ongoing basis, enable a consistent brand experience across channels, and deliver unique and delightful experiences within each individual channel," Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka said.

Gujarat govt to host 2-day summit on tech and innovation * Gujarat government will host the National Summit on Innovation and Technology on September 30 and October 1, an event that is expected to see participation from over 400 companies from across the country.

Organised as part of Pre-Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 in Gandhinagar, the summit will focus on bio-technology and startups on the first day, followed by IT and electronics on the second day.

MoneyTap launches credit line app

* Bengaluru-based startup MoneyTap has launched an app-based credit line as a facility for consumers to help them borrow up Rs 3,000-Rs 5 lakh at low interest rates for flexible tenure.

The loan can be repaid as EMIs from 2 months to 3 years and the interest is paid only on the amount borrowed with rates as low as 1.25 per cent per month, the company said in a statement.

MoneyTap has partnered RBL Bank for the service. The app is available to people living in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.

Aditya Birla takes abof to Amazon

* Aditya Birla Group has partnered Amazon India to launch its own label on the latter's platform.

The abof brand's collection on Amazon Fashion includes over 1,200 products in apparels with the price ranging from Rs 395-1,995.

The collection will soon expand to offer footwear and accessory categories as well, Amazon.In said in a statement.

"We aim to increase the accessibility of abof branded products to a new and wider user base through our partnership with Amazon.In," abof.Com President and CEO Prashant Gupta said.
