A model-turned-costume designer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a well within the premises of a beach resort here, police said today.
Anil Cherian had gone to attend a party hosted to celebrate the birthday of his friend's cousin. The event was organised on Saturday night in a resort at Gorai beach in the suburbs, they said.
Cherian had arrived for the party late in the night. However, when he failed to reach home on Sunday, his wife filed a missing person's complaint with Santacruz police.
While Santacruz police were investigating the matter, their Gorai counterparts informed them about Cherian's body spotted floating in a well within the resort's compound.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and the police were checking the guest list at the resort.
Cherian, who had a long association with actor Shekhar Suman, worked as a costume designer for under-production Hindi movie "Bold Bollywood", said to be inspired by the life of late actress Jiah Khan, who committed suicide in June.
