Cottonseed oil cake prices fell Rs 25.50 to Rs 1,694 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed holdings, depressed by downbeat spot sentiment.
Market players said traders were cutting their bets in view of a fall in demand for animal feed makers amid ample availability of ready stocks in physical markets, which described weak tendency in cottonseed oil cake futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, cottonseed delivery for March contracts slipped Rs 25.50, or 1.48 per cent, to Rs 1,694 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,44,940 lots.
The delivery for the February contracts also fell by Rs 17, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 1,709 per quintal, with an open interest of 47,750 lots.
