Courtney Cox's TV show 'Cougar Town' has been renewed for a sixth and final season.

TBS has confirmed that the series will return for 13 new episodes that will bring the comedy series to a close, reported Deadline.

The programme's new commission means that it will reach the 100 episodes necessary to become syndicated.

'Cougar Town' originally aired on ABC from 2009 to 2012, when it was moved to TBS in a highly-publicized network swap.

The success of season four led TBS to pick up the show for additional episodes, which aired earlier this year.

The future of the series had been in doubt in April, but a deal was ultimately reached for a final set of episodes to wrap up storylines.

Christa Miller, Busy Philipps, Dan Byrd, Josh Hopkins and Ian Gomez make up Cougar Town's supporting cast.
