CPI(M) Politburo member Biman Bose today said party workers could not complete its booth-level campaign for the party's plenum and December 27 Brigade rally "because of terror unleashed by the ruling Trinamool Congress."

"We could not cover 100 per cent booths in our campaign because of terror unleashed by the ruling TMC, but we expect people to participate in the Brigade rally from everywhere," Bose told reporters here.

Stating that all their party offices were not in a position to function because of state-sponsored terror and in many cases, Bose said workers could not even open offices at many places.

"In many places we have kept our party offices closed to avoid constant confrontation with the ruling party," he said.

Despite all these, the veteran CPI(M) leader believed that they would be able to assemble around 10 lakh party workers and supporters at the Brigade on December 27, which he hoped would have representation from all districts.

The December 27 Brigade rally would be followed by the party plenum and would continue till December 31, he said, adding, the party's Central Committee and Politburo meetings would be held on December 26.

Bose called upon people, who have urgent work on the day of Brigade rally, to come out a little early to avoid unnecessary harassment or delay in traffic snarls because of processions towards the Brigade Parade grounds.

Meanwhile, veteran CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said that he had expected the Trinamool Congress to act more "responsibly" after winning the Assembly elections in such a massive manner and not to indulge in post-poll violence which continued to take place across the state.

"I had an expectation that the TMC will act more responsibly this time after winning the elections in such a manner. But it is moving in the same direction as earlier," Dasgupta said.

A team of CPI-M leaders today visited Kolkata Police headquaters at Lalbazar and met CP Rajeev Kumar and submitted a letter asking to take prompt action against post-poll violence in the city.
