Maharashtra Legislative Council was adjourned twice today following ruckus by the Opposition members who demanded an adjournment motion to discuss the issue of unseasonal rains that have affected the crops and farmers in the state.

Leader of Opposition Dhananjay Munde said that all other discussions should be put aside for the day to discuss the issue of unseasonal rains and hailstorms.

However, the members of the ruling coalition objected to it.

As the din continued, Council's Deputy Chairman Vasant Davkhare adjourned the House for 15 minutes.

When the House reassembled, the ruckus continued with NCP leader Sunil Tatkare demanding that the Question Hour be suspended to allow a discussion on the plight of farmers in the state.

Davkhare then called the members of the ruling coalition and the Opposition in his chamber to sort out the issue, after which the House was again adjourned for 30 minutes.
