Hiray got 20,902 votes and he defeated TDF candidate Rajendra Dhondiba Lande by a margin of 8,428 votes (Lande polled 12,474 votes), official sources said.
With this win, Hiray has entered the Legislative Council after a gap of 10 years.
His father Prashant Hiray was a transport minister in the last Sena-BJP state government while his grandmother Pushpatai Hiray was a former health minister of the state.
