Councillors stage sit-in demanding release of development fund

Ghaziabad mayor and councillors from several parties today staged a sit-in at the district headquarter to press their demand for the release of Rs 150 crore infrastructure fund meant for development of the city.

Mayor Teluram Kamboj said the state government has been withholding Rs 152 crore fund meant for carrying out development work in the city since three years.

A memorandum in his regard was handed over to the district magistrate of Ghaziabad.

DM Ghaziabad Vimal Kumar Sharma said a certified amount of rupees 104 crore of was in backlog and lying with the state government instead of rupees 152 crore as has been claimed by the Mayor and counsellors of Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam.
 

He said that for the release of the infrastructure fund, a recommendation has been sent to the state government for approval as per rules.
