The fate of five candidates, who had contested the bypoll in Rangang-Yangang Assembly constituency of Sikkim, will be known today with counting of votes underway for the seat.

The by-election at Rangang-Yangang, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling's home constituency, was necessitated following his decision to relinquish this seat in favour of Namchi-Singithang constituency which he had also won besides this seat.

Ruling Sikkim Democratic Front had fielded 33-year old Kumari Manger, who was pitted against R N Chamling, the chief minister's younger brother who contested as an independent.

While the BJP had fielded Bikash Basnett, Congress had put up Bishnu Prasad Adhikari. Another independent candidate, S Limboo, is also in the fray.
