Observing that the country has made rapid strides since Independence, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today said revolution in IT and healthcare industries has made India a global destination.
"We have made rapid strides since Independence. We have seen a Green Revolution, which has made our granaries full; a blue revolution; a white revolution and a brown revolution," Rosaiah said during the Republic Day celebrations.
"Today the revolution in IT and healthcare industry have made India a global destination. In the field of science and technology we have achieved an honourable place. Successful maiden mission to Mars is a jewel in our nation's crown. This has won us a global recognition of being the first country in the world to succeed in its first attempt to Mars," he said in a speech, which was broadcast by the state-run All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Observing that Tamil Nadu was a front ranking state, he said its 'Fast Track Approach' plan, implemented at a cost of Rs 96.94 crore to speedily achieve sufficiency in foodgrain production, and its initiatives to promote micro irrigation, deserved a special mention.
Providing 100 per cent subsidy to marginal and small farmers and 75 per cent to other farmers for installing micro-irrigation set up by the state government is laudable, he said.
Tamil Nadu government's efforts to translate the vision into reality, to boost investment was laudable, he said, adding, its initiatives to create a conducive atmosphere for private sector participation and investment was a welcome one.
