Two persons were arrested today for allegedly possessing a country-made gun near Kadamalaikundh ghat road in the district, police said.
30-year-old Murugan riding a motorcycle along with his friend was found carrying the single barrel gun in a jute bag when police intercepted and checked them.
Murugan was arrested while his friend escaped, police said.
Based on his interrogation, police arrested one Thangamalai, who allegedly supplied the gun to Murugan, they said adding cases under the Arms Act have been registered against them.
