Hailing the prowess and sacrifices made by Indian armed forces in Kargil war, BJP's floor leader in Telangana Legislative Assembly G Kishan Reddy today said the country, with NDA in power, can defend itself against any threat from Pakistan and China.
"The country is proud of this day (Kargil Vijay Diwas). Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was Prime Minister then, wanted friendly relations with neighbours and undertook a 'bus yatra' from Delhi to Lahore.
"He extended a hand of friendship. Pakistan tried to backstab even as it gave a hand of friendship," he said.

The Indian armed forces taught a lesson to Pakistan in the Kargil war though they faced inhospitable conditions, he said.
India is forced to celebrate various events, including important days, under the shadow of guns because of the neighbouring country, he said, adding that Pakistan should not invite trouble by testing India's patience.
"We did surgical strikes on terror camps. If necessary, if Pakistan's mind does not change, I say don't invite a situation of surgical strike being performed on Lahore.
"We did a 'bus yatra', a 'yatra' for peace. But, I warn that, if necessary, a 'yatra' of bombs will have to be done on Pakistan. No fear. Pakistan needs to remember that, in the event of a war, our brave Indian soldiers have the power to eliminate Pakistan from world map," Reddy said.
Talking about China, he said Beijing is not able to digest the rising profile of India under the NDA government.
China is showing imperialistic and a dominating mindset, the BJP leader said.
Asserting that India has the ability to defend itself, he said the countrymen would have to stand by its soldiers in the event of "any situation".
