A newly-married couple has approached a Jodhpur court alleging that five policemen, including an SHO, ill-treated them "in a drunken state".
The couple has complained that on March 21 when they were returning home after watching a movie, the policemen intercepted them near their house and a head constable, who was under the influence of alcohol, misbehaved with them.
When the couple approached the SHO of Sardarpura police station, Bhupendra Singh, who was present there, he also misbehaved with them and they were pushed into a PCR van, according to their complaint.
They were then taken to the police station, where the head constable filed a complaint against them for causing interference in discharge of duty by a government servant and arrested them.
The victim also alleged that his wife had recorded the entire incident in her mobile phone before being pushed into the PCR van, but the accused policemen deleated it.
After getting bail from the court, the couple filed a complaint against the policemen.
The CJM court will hear the matter on April 6.
However, police said the couple had misbehaved with the personnel and claimed they were not married, but the victim said that they got married on February 22.
Police Commissioner Ashok Rathore denied the allegation saying that the couple was lying. On the contrary, the couple misbehaved with the police when they were spotted in suspicious condition.
Terming the couple as "rogue", he alleged that they have also been threatening the land lady of their rented accomodation since long.
Meanwhile, after the issue was raised by an MLA in the assembly today, Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria assured that order an inquiry by a senior police official to be conducted into the matter.
Also, a member of the Rajasthan State Women Commission met the couple after its Chairperson Suman Sharma took cognisance on the matter.
