Couple arrested for duping travel agents

Anu Chandra Paul and Aparna Paul, who hail from Silchar in Assam, were arrested recently following a complaint filed by three travel agents that the couple and their cousin had cheated them of several lakhs of rupees.

The complainants alleged that the couple were operating Travels Affairz Pvt Ltd since February 2010 in Karol Bagh and that they have earned about Rs. 60 lakhs by falsely promising the complainants tour package for various customers.

After learning that the couple had escaped to Silchar, a police team was sent there to nab them.

"During sustained interrogation, Paul said in February 2010, he along with his wife started a company. Initially, the accused used to give the payments to the travel agents on time to win the trust and would provide good facilities to customers as well as travel agents," Devesh Chandra Srivastava, Additional Commissioner of Police, Central district, said.

 

"After sometime, he along with his wife hatched a conspiracy to cheat the customers as well as the travel agents. He along with his wife Aparna Paul and his cousin Amrit Paul collected huge amount from customers and travel agents for providing tour packages and tickets and fled from thier office," he said.
