Couple attacked for eloping

A couple was allegedly attacked and their car set on fire when they returned from Delhi, 10 years after eloping from here, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when the couple Zahid (27) and Nazma (26) returned from Delhi in a car, following which the woman's brother, along with others, attacked them and burnt the car, B N Prasher, Station House Officer (SHO) said.

Four others were also injured when they tried to save the couple, the SHO said.

The injured couple, and others have been admitted to a hospital, he said, adding that police are looking for the absonding accused.
 

The couple had eloped and got married 10 years ago. Their family members were opposed to their relationship, the SHO added.
