A young couple has been arrested for allegedly beating to death a 60-year-old man in Jaitpur area in southeast Delhi last month.
Lalit Kumar (21), of Ismailpur, Haryana, and his wife Kavita (19) were arrested from Lucknow, and Rs 5,500 and the victim's mobile phone were recovered from their possession, a senior police officer said.
The couple had on June 14 beaten to death one Gulab Chand, in whose house they were staying after getting married. They also stole Rs 16,000 and his mobile phone from the victim and fled the place, the officer said.
On June 16, the decomposed body of Chand was found at his residence in Om Nagar area of Jaitpur. A team was formed to investigate the case, and based on an information, the couple was arrested from Lucknow, the officer said, adding that further investigation is on in the case.
