The police has arrested a couple on charge of smuggling arms and recovered a firearm and ammunition from their possession in Bihar's Munger district.
During a raid on Tuesday, the couple was arrested from their house at Vindawara Sharma Tola under the jurisdiction of Kasim Bazar police station, a police officer said on Wednesday.
A carbine, two magazines of the firearm and 30 cartridges of 7.65 mm pistol were recovered from their possession, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Munger, Gaurav Mangla, said.
The accused have been identified as Dipak Mandal and his wife Sima Devi, the SP said.
An FIR has been lodged against the couple under various sections of the Arms Act, he said, adding, the complaint was lodged with the Kasim Bazar police station.
