A tribal couple was killed and their three children seriously injured after they were mowed down by a vehicle driven by an inebriated youth here, police said.
The accused, identified as Vipul Ajmera, son of a trader, was driving a Maruti Wagon R car at a high speed and mowed down the couple and their children last night after losing control over the wheels, Baghana Police Station in-charge S L Patidar told reporters.
Babulal (40) and his wife Shantibai (35) died on the spot and their two daughters Pooja (10) and Ranu (6), son Toofan (8) suffered serious injuries.
The children suffered fracture in their legs and were admitted to the district hospital, Patidar said.
The fourth child of the deceased couple survived as he was working with a sugarcane juice vendor and was not present at the spot when the incident occurred.
Vipul, who suffered minor injuries in the mishap, got himself referred to a hospital in Udaipur in neighbouring Rajasthan and was yet to be arrested, he said.
A case under sections 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 279 (rash driving) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC was registered against Vipul and further investigation was on.
