Couple robbed of Rs 34.50 lakh in Ranpura near Vadodara

Kalyansinh Vekariya and his wife Shobhnaben staying at Bajrang farm house located in Ranpura village were robbed of Rs 34.50 lakhs yesterday, including Rs 30 lakhs in cash, besides silver and gold ornaments worth Rs 4.50 lakh, police sources said today.

"A gang of about ten robbers armed with iron rods and lathis travelling in two cars, approached them and asked to vacate their house and land, climing that they are the real owners. When we refused to do so, we were beaten up and were injured on our legs and forehead," Vekaria said in a complaint lodge at a police station in Savli taluka.
 

Vekariya identified Hasmukh Dobariya and Rafiq as members of the gang after which Savli police rushed to the spot and began investigating the case.

"Both the husband and his wife fractured their hands in the attack by the gang of robbers," police sub-inspector J J Patel told PTI.

Further investigation is on, he said.
