Perturbed by power department officials' continuing reluctance to issue electricity connection to their home, a couple in Ajmer district's Beawar town has sought permission from Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to end their lives.

The husband Sohan Lal today said in Ajmer that though they applied for electricity connection around one and a half months ago completing all formalities, officials refused to provide the connection without citing any reason.

Disturbed over the officials' attitude and the sufferings of their children due to non-availability of electricity at their home, Sohan Lal and his wife Narbada decided to write to the Chief Minister seeking his permission to end their lives, he said.

A district administration official said the matter is being examined, but refused to comment on the couple's plea.
