Courier man robbed of jewellery worth Rs 2.48 crore

Mumbai police have registered an offence against five unidentified persons for robbing an employee of a courier company of valuables worth Rs 2.48 crore in suburban Vile Parle today.

According to the victim Mahendra Kumar Saini (23) who works for Jai Mata Di courier company, he was on his way to deliver a consignment of jewellery to its owner when five persons accosted him near Kalyani apartment at Shradhanand road in Vile Parle and robbed him at gun-point.

Dhananjay Kulkarni, spokesperson of Mumbai police, said the police had launched manhunt for the culprits.
