The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has asked the directors of Dudhwa park and Etawah Safari to come before it on August 29 to give details about the availability of infrastructure and further requirements in the park in order to save lions.
A bench of justice Vikram Nathan and justice D S Tripathi said, "We feel that both the directors remain present in the court to assist it in providing necessary information so that these Safaris are well managed and the animals are also well taken care of".
The bench passed the order on a pending PIL moved in 2016 expressing concern on the death of lions in the Safaris.
It had said that a Special Tiger Protection Force was not constituted in UP though the Central Environment and Forest department had given its approval for the same in 2009.
The court had earlier directed the Central Zoo Authority to inspect the Etawah Lion Safari.
Considering the issue, the bench said , "The Directors shall come prepared with the requirement of the parks for its maintenance and up-keep and also prepare the details of the infrastructure and human resource provided as against their demand".
