A court here today awarded capital punishment to a man in connection with the murder of a woman in 2013.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) Vinod Kumar Tiwari awarded capital punishment to Vipin Rai who managed to escape from the court premises when the court in May last held him along with others guilty of killing a woman.
Rai later surrendered before the court on May 31.

As per the FIR lodged with Muffasil police station, Gunja Devi's body was found near Hari Bigaha canal under the same police station area of the district on June 25, 2013.
The police cracked the case and the investigation showed that Raj Kumar Rai, a constable, along with his relatives and associates including Vipin Rai, took his wife Gunja Devi for walk and killed her on June 24, 2013, Additional Public Prosecutor Devendra Kumar said.
In May last, the court had found all accused persons guilty of killing Gunja Devi.
Raj Kumar Rai and his two associates were sentenced to life imprisonment by the court but could not pronounce order with regard to Vipin Rai as he had escaped from the court premises.
