Court awards life term to a man for killing a septuagenarian

A fast track court here today awarded life imprisonment to a man for killing a septuagenarian seven years ago.

The Judge Mohammad Khurshid Alam awarded life term to Ranjit Mukhiya, a resident of Mahar Tol Madariya village under Sakatpur police station of Darbhanga district.

Mukhiya is in jail since January 2012.

The court had on November 14, 2017, held Mukhiya guilty under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murdering 70- year-old Krit Narayan Choudhary, a resident of Dadpatti village of the district.

As per the FIR lodged by the victim's son on December 3, 2011, Mukhiya had hacked to death his father, Additional Public Prosecutor Umesh Ram said.
 

It was alleged that the he had killed Choudhary to avenge a fight over unauthorisedly fishing in the 70-year-old's pond.
