A court here today awarded rigorous life imprisonment to two persons in connection with the gangrape of a hotel employee in March.

Additional Sessions Judge Priya Sood sentenced Sunny and Mohan, both from Ludhiana, and also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on each of them.

Co-accused Badal was sentenced to 20 years in jail and was fined Rs 50,000 as the court took a lenient view in his case as he had persuaded others not to kill the girl after the rape.

According to FIR, the accused had kidnapped the girl when she was returning to her PG accommodation after meeting one of her colleagues late night on March 8 in Raj Guru locality.

They raped her in the moving car and later they dropped her near her PG.

The victim hailed from Himachal Pradesh.

The judgement came in about a month from the date of framing charges against the accused.
