A local court today directed Telugu actress Jeevitha to furnish a Rs 25 lakh surety bond in connection with a cheque bounce case.

The court in its conditional order said that if the wife of actor Rajasekhar failed to do so, she would have to undergo two years' rigorous imprisonment.

As she furnished the bond, she was released on bail and given one month's time to file an appeal.

Sama Chandrasekhar Reddy, producer of 2007 Telugu film "Evadaithe Nakenti", had filed a complaint in the court in January stating that Jeevitha, the director of the film, had bought its rights assuring that she will pay Reddy Rs 23.75 lakh.

However, according to Reddy's lawyer Mahesh Kumar, of the seven cheques given by her, only one, of Rs 2 lakh, was honoured while the rest bounced.

Reddy then moved the court against Jeevitha.

Speaking to reporters, Jeevitha said, "We will fight out this case in the higher court. I need not pay him anything and we will prove it. The court in its order gave the option to pay Rs 25 lakh (in bond) which I did.
