A local court today directed the chairman of a private college and his wife to pay legal fee to a lawyer, who had fought their case in a court to get compensation for an accident in which they were involved nine years ago.
Civil judge Ramneek Sharma asked the chairman and his wife to pay Rs 30,000 and Rs 3,000 respectably along with interest of five per cent to the advocate.
Nikka Ram, chairman of Sirda Group of Institutions and his wife Raj Kumari, met with an accident and filed two claim petitions-- under Motor vehicle Act-- for compensation in 2005 through advocate Pushap Raj Sharma.

In March, 2009 their case was decided and they got part payment of the compensation.
However, the legal fee of Rs 30,000 in case of Nikka Ram and Rs 3,000 in case of Raj Kumari was not paid to the advocate.
Sharma issued a legal notice to the couple asking them to pay the legal fee and it went unheeded he filed a court case.
The couple contended in the court that they had paid the fee. However, after going through the documentary and oral evidences, the court decided in favour of the lawyer.
