A local court today dismissed a plea of a minor girl, who had sought its permission to terminate her pregnancy.
In the application moved through her parents last week, the girl had requested Special Fast Track Court of Bimlesh Tanwar that she be permitted to abort the foetus on the ground that "the unwanted pregnancy could result in a grave injury to her mental health".
The court had recorded her statement yesterday and reserved the order for September 20.

The girl in her plea had alleged that two youths known to one of her female relatives took her to Karnal on April 5.
One of the boys, identified as Surjit, married her by forging their age certificates. He later allegedly raped her and presently she is four-month pregnant.
She requested the court that she was not physically fit to give birth to a child, so she be allowed to terminate the pregnancy.
Earlier, on the complaint of the parents of the girl, the police had registered a case under section 376 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (PASCO) Act against Surjit and a few others.
On July 18, the police had rescued the girl and arrested accused who are in judicial custody.
Surjit has also filed a petition in local civil court seeking injunction to restrain her from abortion claiming that they were legally married.
