Kapoor, lodged in Chennai Puzhal prison, was brought here and produced before Judicial First Class Magistrate Rajkumar on expiry of his three-day judicial remand. The Magistrate extended the remand till Wednesday and adjourned the case.

He posted to Wednesday the bail application filed by Kapoor, extradited from Germany last week, and a plea by the prosecution seeking seven days police custody of the fugitive.

64-year old Kapoor, suspected to be behind the theft of idols from two temples in Ariyalur in April, 2008 and wanted by Tamil Nadu police, was arrested by German police in October last following an Interpol red corner notice.

The Tamil Nadu idol wing of police had taken him into custody from Germany and brought him to Chennai on July 14 and produced him before the court here.

After today's court proceedings, Kapoor was taken back to Chennai, about 250 km from here, for being lodged in the Puzhal prison.
