Court gives 10 years sentence to drug peddler

A local court has sentenced a drug peddler to ten years imprisonment in a March, 2010 case.

Additional Sessions Judge Gurjant Singh on yesterday sentenced Gurbachan Singh, resident of Pandori Arian village in the district, to 10 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on him.

In case of default, he would further have to go for six months imprisonment.

A case was registered against Gurbachan on March 6, 2010 after a large number of drug tablets were recovered from his possession.

The case was registered under section 15, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Act.
