A court has granted bail to a suspected
Bangladeshi for allegedly entering Indian territory without valid documents.
West Tripura Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sarbajit Choudhury Thursday granted bail to one Raju Choudhury.
His counsel Mrinal Kanti Biswas dismissed the charge that Raju was a Bangladeshi and said his father was registered in Indian documents way back in 1957.
In the Tripura High Court, Raju is fighting a domestic violence case lodged by his wife Nasima Khatun, the counsel said.
Sub-divisional Police Officer (Sadar) Suman Majumder said Raju Choudhury was arrested Wednesday from Akhaura Road.
"During interrogation Choudhury admitted that he worked with the Bangladesh Army as rifleman but deserted it during training," Majumder said.
Tripura shares a 856-km-long border with Bangladesh.
