A court today granted the CB-CID custody of an accused in the murder of a Hindu Munnani functionary.
The accused, Saddam Hussain, was arrested on August one at Karumathapatti, about 20 km from here, by the Special Investigation Division of the CB-CID.
The court had remanded Saddam to judicial custody till August 16 on August 2.

The CB-CID had sought his custody for interrogation before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Madurasekharan, who posted the hearing for today, as defense counsel had opposed it.
When the case came up, the magistrate granted CB-CID custody of Saddam for five days and directed the agency to produce him on August nine.
The deceased, Sasikumar, district spokesperson of the organisation, was returning home on a two-wheeler when some unidentified assailants chased him on motorcycles and attacked him with sickles on September 22 last year.
He succumbed to injuries at a hospital later.
Police are on the lookout for Mubarak, another accused.
