Court issues arrest warrant against ACP

A court here today issued an arrest warrant against an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli, after he failed to appear as a witness before it in the trial of an attempt to murder case booked by him in the district in 2014 when he was an Inspector.

The trialin the case was adjourned twice as Nandhakumar, the then Inspector of Pamban Police Station, failed to depose as the main witness, despite summons issued to him on November 24, 2015 and February 1 this year.

Police said Nandhakumar, now the ACP of Tirunelveli, had registered cases against one Babu of fishermen's colony in Pamban for allegedly stabbing his neighbour Thomas Sanjeevaraj and injuring him seriously in May 2014.
 

As he failed to appear for the trial, Judicial Magistrate Chandranordered issue of arrest warrant againstNandakumar.
