Additional District and Sessions Judge Aligarh Irfan Qamar yesterday issued the warrant against Ramvir Upadhaya and his brother Mukul Upadhaya, an MLC, and asked them to appear in the court on February 6, prosecution sources said.

On October 9, 2004, Ramvir was returning to Hathras after an election campaigning for his brother in Iglas area in the Aligarh district when some villagers had pelted stones at his cavalcade following which both had lodged a case against eight persons.

Though nine years have passed, the brothers and their witnesses have not appeared before the court till now and the court took a serious note of the matter and issued the warrant, the sources said.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Ramvir and Mukul Upadhaya said that would appear in the court on February 6.
