A local court has issued a non-bailable warrant against city Mayor Abhilasha Gupta and her husband in a case related to alleged violation of the model code of conduct during the 2012 local body polls.
Judicial Magistrate Gyanendra Tripathi yesterday issued the order and directed the police to arrest the couple and produce them before the court on next hearing on March 27.
Abhilasha and her husband Nand Gopal Gupta, a former state minister in the previous Mayawati government, have been accused of taking out a procession on June 23, 2012 during the campaign for the said elections without taking permission from the authorities concerned.

An FIR was subsequently lodged against the couple and some of their supporters under various sections of the Representation of People Act.
A bailable warrant was issued by the court in July last after the accused failed to turn up despite being summoned. But the court had granted bail to the other accused in the case.
Abhilasha Gupta became the youngest Mayor of the city in 2012.
Earlier this month, the Mayor had staged a protest in front of the residence of Inspector General of Police and alleged that her husband was being falsely implicated in various corruption cases by his opponents and that a police team had conducted an "illegal" raid on their residence.
