A court here today issued non-bailable warrants against two sons of a BJP MLC in Bihar on a complaint by a young woman flight attendant that they molested her.
The court of judicial magistrate Priya Shekhar issued warrants against Prashant Ranjan and Sushant Ranjan against whom a case was lodged at the Mahila police station here under Section 354 B of the Indian Penal Code (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe).
The accused, who have been absconding since the case was lodged on May 18, are sons of BJP MLC and former chairperson of the Legislative Council Awadhesh Narayan Singh.
The complainant, a flight attendant with a private airline, alleged that both the brothers had proposed to her at different points of time and when she refused, they brought her to their father's government bungalow and molested her.
Interestingly, the woman had visited the house of the BJP leader yesterday and described him as a father figure saying, "I was touched when I heard uncle speaking on news channels and he spoke about me with respect and said that I was like her daughter."
"I just came to tell him that I do not hold him responsible, in any way, for the wrong that his sons have done. But I would not withdraw the FIR since it concerns the larger issue of a woman's self-respect", she had said.
The BJP leader had said "I believe it is a case of terrible misunderstanding between hot-blooded young men and women. I have requested them all to patch up. As far as the charges against my sons are concerned, I can only say that I have brought them up with good values."
"Moreover, if the guilt of either of my sons is established, I would be siding with the law and seek no leniency for my own child," he had claimed.
