A local court has ordered lodging of FIR against a ruling Samajwadi Party MLA and four others in connection with the alleged abduction of a woman and efforts to grab her land in Bhogajit Nagariya village.

It was alleged that Maalwati, who was living alone in the village, was abducted on July 17, 2013 and despite complaints no action in this connection was taken as a relative of Sahaswan MLA Omkar Singh was eyeing her land, according to prosecution.

Though her relatives had apprised the authorities that her land could be fraudulently transferred, the land was transferred on August 23 and when the woman somehow returned home she claimed that she was forced to give her thumb impression on some papers in the presence of sub registrar of Sahaswan Vimal Kumar Gupta, MLA Omkar Singh and three others.

Taking serious note of the matter, Chief Judicial Magistrate Punit Kumar Singh on Saturday found that the manner of registeration of land adopted in this case was an old one while now it is being done through the new method and directed the Sahaswan police to lodge an FIR as per the details given in the complaint and investigate the matter.

The Sahaswan police, when contacted, said that they had not yet received the court order.
